A Tale of a Rollercoaster Ride

We are continuing to tell the amazing stories of CBE employees and the road they’ve traveled with our company. Today’s story is about Brian Sharp, who has been at CBE for 13 years. Brian’s career path resembles a rollercoaster ride with many operational and analytical roles with twist and turns as different needs surfaced throughout the organization. Brian has always been ready to step to the plate to take on new roles. His vast experience has led him to his role today as Director, Ops Analytics and Reporting.

We interviewed Brian and this is what he had to say:

Why do you stay at CBE?
I enjoy the freedom to think outside the box and innovate. Many companies get into the rut of repetition regardless of the opportunities they are presented with. At CBE, we have the chance to push ourselves and others with challenging ideas and collaborate toward a positive solution. Each role I’ve held during my years here, I’ve endeavored to have a lasting impact through gained efficiencies, productivity and accuracy for those that I support.

Why did you join CBE?
Much like many others, I started here because of family. My wife and brother-in-law were both working in the Des Moines office. I wasn’t really sure what to expect and certainly didn’t anticipate that initial job turning into a now 13-year career path.

What have you learned while working at CBE?
Where to start…

I arrived at CBE with no experience in call centers, no management training, no foundation in analytics or operational strategy. To say that my time here has been a rollercoaster would be an understatement. We’ve tackled some incredibly daunting projects and made remarkable strides.

Where do you see the company going over the next five years? What is your role in getting there?
I’m expecting to see significant growth. As our clients become more selective about the relationships they wish to maintain, our continued efforts toward providing the best quality partnership available will open new doors to us. With new clients and portfolios comes the always challenging growing pains. As we’ve done successfully in the past, we’ll pull through whatever comes our way…and be better for it.

As for my role in the process, I see my team providing actionable analytics and accurate reporting to support decisions in the business units. While we have a solid foundation in place, there are new technologies available to aid in these processes that will have a noticeable impact as we progress.
